Key dimensions

The two numbers every geometry chart leads with

mm
Vertical distance from BB centre to the top of the head tube. The main indicator of how upright or aggressive the position is.
mm
Horizontal distance from BB centre to the top of the head tube. Longer = more stretched out.

Front end

Steering feel and front-wheel placement

°
Angle of the head tube from horizontal. Steeper (74°+) = more responsive. Slacker (68°–) = more stable at speed.
mm
Length of the head tube. Longer = higher front end, more spacer headroom.
mm
Also called rake — offset of the fork tips from the steering axis. Works with the head angle to determine trail.
mm
Distance between where the steering axis meets the ground and the tyre contact point. More trail = more stable.

Rear end

Seating position and rear-wheel placement

°
Angle of the seat tube. Steeper = more forward over the pedals, better power transfer.
mm
BB centre to top of seat tube (C-T). Used as a frame size reference across brands.
mm
BB centre to rear axle. Shorter = snappier acceleration. Longer = more stable and comfortable.
mm
How far the BB sits below the wheel axle centreline. More drop = lower centre of gravity.

Overall

Whole-bike lengths and clearances

mm
Horizontal top tube length, measured parallel to the ground regardless of actual tube slope.
mm
Distance between the two wheel contact points. Longer = more stable. Shorter = more agile.
mm
BB to front axle. Larger values reduce the risk of toe overlap when turning at low speed.
mm
Height of the top tube above the ground at its lowest point. You need clearance here when stopping.
kg
Complete bike weight, typically measured without pedals. May vary by size and spec.
